Here is a stamp that just came out of WIP. I'm at the end with this one, can't determine what I think it is, I have an idea, but first I'll let everyone provide what they think is going on here. R18 shop worn copy, and dirty, washing is a normal WIP process, but not this time. Cheers David (Stampmaster)

Nothing much. Something either chemical or physical has spotted the plate with small pits which pick up ink. They are usually called "rust spots". A fairly common occurrence on first issues. |

Likely "work in process" referring to his personal queue of stamps to investigate, clean, inspect and/or mount. Our friend Dave is ex military and probably fluent in TLA's (three letter acronyms).

It is a good idea to define an a term the first time it is used. WIP may be work in progress, WIP is also a prominent Florida dealer handling primarily Canadian stamps. |

I used WIP and should have defined it first. As such Work In Process (WIP). Not knocking any members, but I see a lot of terms used on this site, and I have no idea what they mean. I have to stop and try to find out, or ask. I expect its mostly older people like myself who do not know the meaning of these terms. Hope everybody will at least define these terms in their posts.
I had not considered "Something either chemical or physical has spotted the plate with small pits which pick up ink. They are usually called "rust spots". A fairly common occurrence on first issues."
Thanks all members who responded.
One last comment, I'm not ex military, as I'm still in the military, just not on active duty, they still pay me every month, free medical, and shopping and the commissary, thank all your tax payers, really nice!
Cheers

As a taxpayer, you are welcome. I always happily pay my taxes. I dont always agree with what they are used for, but it always does some good. |

kevin504, would rather look it up if I can find it first, then I learn what it means, and because I looked it up, in a sense own it. Asking defeats the purpose, but does help!
