Ciletaliph, according to the listing, the catalog value of that block used is $575.

Here is one of my favorites. Philatelic, yes, but makes for a nice appearance:

This first flight cachet handstamp from 1938 is a great art deco design (image courtesy of ebay):

Well, some enterprising individual decided to get it applied to a right margin block of 6 stamps, along with individual killer cancels on each stamp (at least it appears that way):

This block of four is interesting, to me, not just because it is postmarked 31 years after the date of first issue of the stamp, but because of the family link the cover presents.

It is only just now, while considering it, for this post, on your thread, that I realized what a diamond I had in my gloved hands. It is from my great-grandfather, to his son, my grandfather. It was addressed by my great-grandfather.

For a year, now, since I was given his collection, I have been trying to find a piece of paper with his signature on it, to confirm the signature on the manuscript cancelled stamp, that you see in my avatar, is indeed a stamp he signed when he was postmaster. I suspected it was, but did not have proof, to confirm.

Little did I know, I already had his handwriting in my possession all this time.

The handwriting, of the last name, as written on the manuscript cancel stamp, appears to be written by the same person, as the handwriting of my grandfather's last name, though a bit scrunched up to fit on a stamp. The 'T' and the 'h' in particular, appear to be an exact match, the way he wrote it, connected the same way.

My mom said to say thank you, for starting this thread, so that one path led me to another, (looking at that block of four) that led me to this discovery. For our family collection, it isn't just a block of four. It is THE Block of Four.

edited to add photo of block of four that is posted on the cover above.
