Maybe one of these days Interpol or someone will catch up with him and he'll get a long vacation somewhere. Though probably not Polynesia this time. |

Actually, Kevin, it's more artfully done than that. The plastic pages and the light reflections do not change either, but the sizes of the notes and the amount of background they show do change. This suggests that closely cropped images of the notes and the PCGS labels are being overlaid onto a stock page of notes that are each small enough to allow for a lot of background. That detail in variation helps lend to the appearance of authenticity. If you followed what I just said, then you can probably figure out what the fix would be to the uniform appearance of the unchanging parts of the pics. Don't post it here for the perp to read, if s/he is following this. |

I removed the perforation to get a better look at the bottom line of the stamp that it was attached to..As you can see, the arrows point to the exact place where that ebay seller had on his sellers site..He stole the image from the Robert A. Siegal auction house..Nice try though.. |

He's on the hook for 10% of the final price in fees. With all the reports filed and now feedback left, it's gonna be a bit more difficult mutually cancelling the deal and funny, that same winner is winning the banknote auction. There's another 10% fee if he wins that. This guy won't be on ebay much longer because you know he won't be paying those fees. Obviously not too bright and it will end up costing him some money instead of making some |

Mike33: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that there was a reasonably "low" cap on an ebay sale. If 10% exceeds that cap, I would assume that the seller would only be liable for the amount up to the cap. But I admit, I'm not that familiar with ebay's rules. I could easily be wrong. |

I believe he's planning on staying on 'vacation' until just before the eBay/PayPal deadline for complaints, then 'shipping' via a slow method to take it past the deadline. That way the buyer won't have recourse. |

Checking ebay fee calculator: In stamps a $5000 sale would be $500 A $10,000 sale would be $750 so there is a cap somewhere in there or the percentages drop over a certain amount but it's still a hefty fee for a non-legitimate sale |

I'm not very au fait with ebay mechanics (despite selling there). Is there any means of a third party's contacting the buyer and warning him/her (assuming S/HE's legitimate)? |

It looks like the scammer seller will not accept Paypal for payment. Hopefully the buyer (if legitimate) with 2300+ feedback will know better than to pay with Western Union or another means of money transfer. If not, it will be a very expensive lesson leaving him/her with zero ebay buyer protection. As far as I know, there's no way to contact the buyer. Ironically, one of the reasons ebay did away with direct contact was to prevent scamming. |

Jenny is right - no way to contact buyer. Which is why it is so much easier for the ethically-challenged to get away with this stuff. In the "old" days, you could easily contact the buyer and simply ask "Are you aware you just bought fake stamps" or something similar, which in most cases would result in the buyer cancelling the sale. No more. Now the buyer, unless covered by PP or CC protection, is screwed. This is how the "British Cartel" has flourished for all these years. You can't contact a buyer, so Stamp Smarter remains the only medium available to report bad listings. |

PSE has had their name associated with the scammer by having their product (expertized, graded and slabbed stamps) used to help pretend the scammer has the real deal. |
