Hello

Yesterday I bought a lot os US material and today I'm doing the best thing that is looking what I bought.

I found a #220a....and I found an interesting stamp with the right 2 cutted. Some one knows something about it?

Hello,

The stamp appears to be over-inked. The excess ink ran into an area that wasn't supposed to be inked when the paper was separated from the printing plate. There is more evidence of this at the lower-left of the 2.

Classic Coins. I´m believe that my stamp has over-ink too.

Stampcrow, this is a nice over-inked stamp too.

My question is: Do you believe that this stamp has the same price that #220 or some thing change?

Thank you.

My feeling is that stamps over-inked all over are considered sub-standard and worth considerably less than normal stamps. If the over-inked area is of interest, though, you may be able to get a little more, but not much.

Denisrbm'

I would consider your stamp an oddity or curiosity (not an error or freak), with no premium value over catalog value for #220.

Denisbrm, my stamp is not an overinking. It's a plate variety. Unfortunately my pictures are not very good. That's why I suggested you should watch for it. It is a repeatable anomaly.

Very interesting this research Stampcrow, I'm going to do the register in the usstamps.org to see this material. I have many stamps to verify now, and some will receive the right attention and place...Thank you.

I found another that looks like yours...

No need for another post - there are too many on the same stamp already. The dot is most likely a guide dot.

I am inclined to agree that the round mark in the LR corner is a guide dot, but the image of that dot-like mark is a little too fuzzy for me to be sure of anything. On my screen it appears to be composed of vertical striations (which merge when I take my glasses off!). That makes no sense to me, but that is how it appears on my screen. Any chance we can get a higher resolution image?

Be that as it may, the location of the mark is not where we would expect to find a guide dot. Nonetheless, if it is a guide dot, then other examples should eventually surface. Has anyone seen another like this?
