Hello friends, so as scheduled in the last topic, i'm posting to your attention my 32 US old stamps. So as I sayed before i'm italian and I bought these stamps next italians, so I really dont know their worth, i'm just expert about italian stamps....and going to browse some online catalog ...with US stamps I get really confused because there are many different kinds for every same tipology. Please do you want to help me to understand if there could be some rare or with interesting worth, so that I ll be able to resell them ? I have 1 scan of all 32 and then I splitted them 2 by 2 for a better view (16 images) Can I post them 2 by 2 here ? Let me know if I can please and I ll start to upload them soon Thanks

Pretty cool collection with some desirable stamps. Some are just too far gone, however. (your #3 and 7.) I like the parcel post stamp and wonder if your #22 is the dark blue variety. |

stampus, in some cases you'll have to provide us with more information. For instance, the 3 cent postage due stamp looks interesting, but its value is dependent on its watermark (and perf?) |

Others will have to evaluate the rest. As for the 15 cent parcel post, it is worth a couple of dollars, based on realized prices on ebay. |

Most of the stamps that were posted have condition and perf issues. Nothing posted is a rarity, but if they were sound with very fine centering there would be some value selling on ebay. Most of the stamps with better Cat Values in Scott are worth 1/20th of the value due to condition issues. Sorry, but you do have a nice start on collecting US classics.. Ray |

(for example the 2 cents orange is number 6) If you want I can provide to scan better front and back only the stamps that you are speaking of... please let me know which they are, and I will. |

stampus, I'll see if I can work on this later today (or maybe tomorrow.) I'll let you know which stamps will require more information in order to identify them. |

stampus, I'll number by row from left to right. The first numbers will be your stamps and the next set will be possible Scott numbers. You'll be able to carry out your own research then. (I'm only going to use my 2012 edition of Blackbook; other catalogs give much more detail.)
1 & 3 Sc. 416, 433, 472, 497, 510 2 Sc. 179, 185 4 Sc. 562, 591, 603, 642 5 Sc. 302 6 & 12 Sc. 135, 146, 157, 178, 183 7 Sc. 205, 216 8 Sc. 304 9 Sc. 255, 270 10 Sc. 557, 586, 637 11 & 18 Sc. 145, 156, 182, 206 13 & 26 Sc. 151, 161, 187, 188, 209 14 & 17 Sc. 330 15 Sc. 339, 403 16 & 27 Sc. Q7 19 Sc. J72, J82 20 Sc. 219 21 Sc. 64, 64B, 65 22 & 24 Sc. 63, 63b, 102 (102 is highly unlikely) 23 Sc. 10, 11, 25, 26, 26a 25 Sc. 73, 103 (103 highly unlikely) 28 Sc. 147, 158, 184, 207, 214 (not likely 214) 29 Sc. 221 30 Sc. 226 31 Sc. 334, 360, 377, 427, 465, 503 32 Sc. 335, 361, 378, 428, 466, 504
I'm afraid this is all I have time for, at least for now. I didn't make things too easy for you, so you'll have to continue with your research. Some Scott numbers you can throw out pretty easily, though you'll need to measure perfs and check for watermarks on some of the stamps. My suspicion is that these are all the most common of the varieties listed.
KR's advice to list the set at 30 dollars with a best offer option is probably good advice. |
