On the whole Rod I agree with you. The press must have a wealth of images to use of Kate but chose to use one from her charity modelling show at university dressed in virtually her underwear. People may say that by modelling as she did this is 'fair game' but I don't buy it in this instance. Don't forget that it was not the English press that were responsible in part in causing the death of William's mother so this is not an isolated problem. The pressure on them both will be intense but I think they have had quite a regular upbringing considering their backgrounds and at this point seem sensible enough to deal with it. Another vote for skipping a generation. I've nothing against Charles per se but feel it would be an immense waste of money if nothing else. Who'd want to see his mugshot on a stamp anyway |

I pretty much agree with Rod - well put I hope they can throw off some of the shackles that dogged previous generations, while continuing with the sense of duty that came before. At least William got to choose his own spouse, a luxury not often enjoyed by his forebears. Personally, I don't envy the Royal Family. I'm happy being a poor commoner and living my life in relative privacy and autonomy. I've got nothing against Charles, really, but William will make a much handsomer stamp... |

Quote: I've got nothing against Charles, really, but William will make a much handsomer stamp. Now see, I figured that a stamp with Prince Charles on it would mean a large square stamp, but turned around to make diamond shaped, so there would be plenty of space ear to ear. I don't know how many monarchies are left in the world, but when Princess Diana died the biggest issue was how aloof Buckingham Palace was being. It seemed as if the one time that HRH needed to show a little humility or to forget all the issues that there was between the Queen and Diana/Diana and Charles, her death was the time. A lot of reasons were being given, but I think that all the public was asking was that her death at least be acknowledged. It would be nice to see a stamp issued with Princess Diana's face somewhere on one of the wedding stamps. Just something as in the background looking on. Donna |

We of an historical bent would quite like a "King Charles III". It's been a ling while since King Charles II........
Mind you, King William V also has a ring to it. |

Great images! A ripping young lad, but why are men lumped with this baldness thing?
Perhaps it was wearing too many iron helmets back in the pillaging days.
The Queen when coronated held the ceremonial mace, a kick back from a time when huge wooden cudgels were used to knock gentlemen right on top of the noggin.

Having British background myself , I'm quite enamoured in the Royal history but it is definatly become less and less of a governing body over the decades. I really doubt if 10 downey ST has to call for permission on much these days. Have to admit both Will & Harry have done well and although being part of degeneration X have not let the legacy down. Harry is leading an injured servicemen/women charity and will be off on a trip to the North Pole with several wounded soldiers. ( possibly asking Santa for a wife of his own) Had to ad a little humor. Don't envy Kate as she will be thrust into poparazzi BS but looks like she might have a good left hook if tested. I think between the 2 boys they will make some positive changes that will be welcome by the masses. Now I hope CAN Post does at least a half decent Stamp -- Was looking at a QE2 coronation Collection and Canada was the worse stamp in the book. |

The stamps will be issued on the Queens Birthday...what an honour ! They will also be the first of the celebratory stamps issued by any nation. Others will follow. And just look what I said back in 2010.... Quote: A pity Benham didn't know about the special engagement ring....I am sure it would have been featured !
Let's see if it appears on any stamps that may be issued.
And lo and behold, the ring is very prominent, just as William would have wanted. Londonbus1....Royal Mail did something right! |

Did you hear about the New Zealand Presentation Pack error? No one really believes that anyone is going to return the error, now do they? Quote: Royal wedding stamps recalled Updated at 5:44am on 25 March 2011
New Zealand Post wants to recall more than 2000 Royal wedding stamp collection packs after an 'embarrassing' mistake. The text on the presentation pack issued on Wednesday, said Prince William was born on 21 May 1982. The correct date was 21 June. New Zealand Post says the error was not picked up during the checking process and it is regrettable and embarrassing. The company is asking people to return the product. But a leading British stamp dealers, Apex Philatelic Auctions, says people should not return them because the mistake, and the small number of packs may increase their value. Prince William is to marry Kate Middleton in London on 29 April.

Another one I just found on the internet. I wonder how many of these stamps will finally be printed, considering this is from an island nation of only about 1400 people: Don't know if I like the idea of perforations splitting Prince William and Kate Middleton, though! |

wt1 It's also telling that he's worth more than she is. Telling what, I'm not sure. |
