This might be another cinderella that I have. It has no country markings and I don't recognize the arms on the flag. Any help would be greatly appreciated in identifying this oddity.

The design is of a 1920 Bavarian stamp but with the country name, "BAYERN", missing at the bottom.

Thanks Nigel. It would have helped having the country name there. I would not have to have felt so stupid. My 1991 Scott Catalog makes no mention of the error nor does my 2002 Scott Classic Specialized. Do we know (a) if this error of country omission is listed or (b) if it would be worth getting expertized even as an error?

Perhaps a trial color proof? Although Scott does not mention that "BAYERN" is imprinted in a color other than orange, so it seems unlikely.

For the 5 Mark should be in orange. These stamps were also overprinted in 1920- `Deutsches Reich`. No track of such error, but there are a lot of known `Essays`, even sheets.
