Karatay Madrasa is a madrasa (a school) built in Konya, Turkey, in 1251. The gate depicted in the stamp is a masterpiece of Seljuk monastery work adorned with text and designs.

Prague Castle
June 25, 1965
Matthias Gate is a gate between the first and the second courtyards of Prague Castle. It was erected by Matthias, Holy Roman Emperor in 1614. Giovanni Maria Filipi was probably the architect, and in the eighteenth century the court architect Nicolo Pacassi incorporated the Matthias Gate into the entrance complex.

Berlin Gate at Stettin (Port Gate in Szczecin) is a Baroque gate with richly decorated tops. It was built between 1725 and 1727.

The Gate of Spalen is a former gate in the ancient city walls of Basel, Switzerland. It is the most magnificent and impressive of the three city gates still remaining from the city fortifications dating back to the 15th century.

Gate of the Alcazar is one of the nine gates in the city walls of Avila. The wall fortification was completed between 11th and 14th centuries. The gate is flanked by 20 meters-high twin towers, linked by a semicircular arch.

Arco de los Gigantes located in the city of Antequera, Malaga province, was constructed in 1585. The 7 meters-high arch opens on a masonry wall of more than two meters thick.

San Ginés' Gate is one of the four gates leading to the medieval town of Miranda del Castañar in Salamanca province. The masonry wall and gates were built in the 15th century.

The Arco de Berà is a triumphal arch some 20 km northeast of the city of Tarragona in Catalonia. The 12.3 meter-high stone structure was erected in the reign of Augustus, around 13 B.C.

Arco de San Benito in Sahagún was built in 1662 according to the design of the architect Felipe Berrojois. It has two facades of great decorative richness, including several sculptures, a huge heraldic shield, plaques and commemorative inscriptions.

Madura Ruins is on the outskirt of Souk Ahras in northeastern Algeria. It was a Roman colony at the end of the 1st century and was famous for its scholastic activities. The stamp depicts a gate in this ancient town.

The Gallus gate, a stepped portal with jamb figures, is located on the north transept of the Minster of Our lady in Basel. The original stone structure was built in the 1190s.

The Gate of Dawn is a city gate in Vilnius, Lithuania, and one of its most important religious, historical and cultural monuments. It was built between 1503 and 1522 as a part of defensive fortifications for the city. The stamp shows the southern side of the gate.

Skifa Kahla is a large fortified gateway to the city of Mahdia in Tunisia. The 35 meters long gateway leads to a square and opens up in the old city. The current gateway was reconstructed in the 16th century.
