Montreal, Quebec, Canada Never met a member of SCF from Montreal. When I visit stamp clubs I talk about SCF but as most members are french Canadians I think language is an issue for some. Also as membership is old they are reluctant to try new thing, many don't even shop on the internet.
I visit Orapex 2012 in Ottawa few weeks ago. A stamp club organised the bus ride to Ottawa. Everything went fine. At the show I first met Petermac, he was busy at the kids table. I also met philb and his wife Joppie from New York, they attend the show every year. It was great to meet SCF members. Knowing phil on the forum I felt like I met him before, like an old friend. And Joppie was such an entertainer for me. |

It has been quite a while since I was to Ottawa. I did get close to it in 2010 when I went to the postcard show in Merrickville.
My nephew is a By-Law officer in Ottawa, so, make sure you feed the meters lol.

And I live in the little small town of Jefferson, TX. If you watch the history channel may have seen our little town on my ghost story a couple times. We happen to be the most haunted town in Texas. |

40 miles south of Winterpeg (Winnipeg)Manitoba. For you southerner that the Canadian Provence just north of North Dakota. Nothing to see here except for really cold winters and 2 weeks of summer. I did get a mnessage from one of the fourm members that lived in Winnipeg that I I deleated by mistake. With the really long winters here I would think that there be quite a few collectors in Manitoba.

I drove through Winnipeg about four decades ago. It was 90 during the day and 34 over night. There`s your summer and winter on the same day! |

I was in Winnipeg about five years ago. Took a tour of the Royal Canadian Mint there. I also remember eating lots of blueberries. |

Irishjack, Winnipeg was a great city when I lived there from 1978 to 1983. It is a windy city but what do you expect when there is no windbreak for a thousand miles going west. Summer was great except for the mosquitoes and remember in the winter, it is a dry cold. When I moved, I resettled in Regina which is six hours to the west. I haven't encountered anyone in my city who is on SCF. |

Warrehouse paid me a visit recently.
We had a great time showing off stamps. He has a phenomenal collection of local post stamps on cover.
I won't forget the time he pulled out a beautiful mint stamp from Bremen. I pulled out my handy, dandy Michel catalog I purchased on SCF and we cataloged it. He thought the catalog prices were in old German Marks, making them relatively meaningless. I reminded him that they were in Euros. His eyes lit up on realizing he had a stamp cataloging 600+ Euros.
After a couple of hours of admiring stamps,we went for a short stroll over to the local diner, T&T Galley for a feast of scrambled eggs, sausage, toast and deep-fried potatoes.
Suffice to say a good time was had by all. |

From the SCF gang I have only met Daniel(Timbres667) as he mentioned at Orapex..it was a pleasure to meet him and have lunch together..Now from the old Stampoffers..now Wensy.com I have met 9 or 10 ...it started about 8 years ago...i knew David Giles from Stampoffers..when he mentioned that he was going to be in New York City for a week I suggested that he take the train to Poughkeepsie and I would pick him up..he took me up on it..and as one thing leads to another..he had us come up to Orapex 2005...from his stamp club and Orapex we met more and more people...we now go up every year and the people tell us...you are staying with so and so this year..i have also had folks from Alberta and Ottawa stay with us...we make them feel at home and never worry about anything..if they are stampcollectors its good enough for us !! |
