Classic Mexico.

Didja see the double overprint (maybe 2 of them)? Not sure what is going on there.

Some of them have catalog numbers on the backs, but I will want to re-identify them. How else will I learn Mexican stamps?

Smauggie, Where did you come across these stamps? I found a few decent ones, but will need to review under magnifying glass!

Local dealer.

Very . . . local . . dealer.

Some will be hard to identify without a perf gauge, I would think.

If you want a close-up let me know, row, column.

These were the two I was hinting at earlier.

This one has two different overprints (both found in Scott).

This has the town name of Coxcatlan stamped in an X shape on the stamp. A precancel?

Hi smauggie

For the early numerals you may need a perf gauge that starts at 8.
I am not sure if the modern ones have it or not. I use an ancient Scott gauge that starts at perf 7. These are the only stamps I ever use the gauge on and even then it is difficult to tell what the
perf is.

I bought "Introduction to the Stamps of Mexico" by Dale Pulver. Cost was $19.00 including postage.
It tells alot about the early Mexican stamps.
I found it on Amazon.com.

Beautiful stamps smauggie. I've always loved the early Mexican numerals. Have a much tattered 10c example on the wall here beside my computer.

The Instanta doesn't go down into the single digits, so this is a perfect use for damaged stamps. Use a marker to write the perf count on the stamp, and then you can just hold the measuring stamp alongside the stamp in question and quickly decide if it is the same, more or less.
