This is a newbie question and have searched through the forum but couldn't find any reference. Just wanted to know if there is a website where I could get total number of stamps issued by a country as it would be helpful to know how far my collection for the country is progressing.
For e.g. If I would like to know how many Stamps were issued for all countries in the Middle east from 1975-2010.
Your question is hard to answer as th postage stamp catalogues do not give a total count by year as far as I know. They more or less just add on to the growing list with new stamps and varieties of older stamps.
You could look in a catalogue and add the stamp issues up yourself, But, you will also be running into the fact that there are carieties of the same design, in colour, perforations, paper, printing method, booklet, sheet, souvenir sheei, miniature sheet, etc.
Where does one draw the line?
Scott has a general catalogue of the world as well as Stanley Gibbons, but for detailed accounting you will need specialized catalogues or a listing somewhere.
Even web sites that sell stamps have, usually, only listings of stamps they have sold, not every stamp that was issued.
Specialist stamp clubs and societies may offer listings of all stamps issued.
Sometimes even trusted catalogues and societies do not tell you about all of the stamps.
Good luck.
Perhaps search the internet for each country's stamps?
If you find an answer there are probably others who would benefir from your knowledge.
I may be wrong, but I suspect you are collecting without using a catalog, which can be make it very difficult to gauge where you are or even where you are going. I would obtain catalog(s) for the countries you are collecting and you can get a good idea from them of how many stamps were issued. Some collectors just use the native language catalogs available to them, for instance I use Scott catalogs for general collecting, and others will get specialized catalogs for their special areas of interest. For example, I use the Scott specialized US catalog for US stamps, Unitrade for Canada, Michel for Central Europe. etc. You get the idea.
