"Scott 632 remained in use from 1927 until it was replaced in 1938 by the 1 cent Presidential issue"
-------------------------------------------

If we subscribe to the term "replaced"
in terms of denomination, then the 632
was *replaced* by the 1¢ Washington,
Bicentennial in 1932, #705... with plate
numbers beginning at 20561, with the last
reported plate as 20844, followed by the
Century of Progress 1¢ in 1933, followed
by the 1¢ #740 Yosemite (21246-21253) and
3 or 4 other 1¢ stamps (all) before 1938...

If you disregard the above, then it would
be a valid statement to make if you view
the *series* 632-642 as being replaced in
1938 by the Prexies ~ 803-834... however,
as demonstrated there were serveral 1¢
issues between 632 and 804...

Disi,

You're confusing definitives with commemoratives.

Defins:

1847 issue
1851 issue
1857 issue
1861 issue
1869 issue
Large banknotes
Small banknotes
First bureau issue
Second bureau issue
Washington-Franklins
Fourth bureau issue
Presidential issue
Liberty issue
Prominent Americans issue
Americana issue
Etc

Commems were issued for a limited period, but the definitive issues were issued for, usually, large periods of times and were the vast majority of stamps sold and used.

I really didn't know that? Thank you chasa for the correction.

Your 2 stamps are Scott #'s 551 & most probably 552 based on the 1925 usage. Correct franking for 3rd class rate.

Not that simple. The image is not good enough to rule out other alternatives. While the 1 cent stamp is likely to be as 552, it should be checked for height by overlaying a rotary press sheet stamp or a flat plate sheet stamp to prove that it is flat plate. Measuring would be counter productive. Back to the image. Please use a scanner.
