I also think that ErrorsRock writes/sounds an awful lot like someone that just left our wonderful forum.

But just for fun, I'll bite. If it was a previously unknown, unique sample, then it would be worth whatever the seller and buyer agree on. Somewhere between $20 and $1000 is my wild guess. (I will still need a certificate, though.)

For a stamp like this, if I can't hold it in my hands to examine it, purchasing it for more than $15-20 would be folly without a certificate. With a certificate, for a double transfer, I still wouldn't go beyond $25-30. Now, a certificate for a double impression.... THAT would be quite different. But that is clearly not the case for this stamp!

Hi ErrorsRock,

It does seem a coincidence that the original poster (Coinwatcher) departed this forum on Jul.08 which is the same day that your first post was made.

In addition to this thread that references an ebay listing by Coinwathcher that you are interested in purchasing, you also made the following entry on the 2c Large Queen thread with "Coinwatcher I have been watching for a LQ like this with the dot in UL corner since you made this post about 5 months ago. I have viewed thousands of 2c LQ's and have not seen one like yours. Would you take $400.00?".

You have only commented on 3 threads, and 2 of them relate to purchasing stamps from Coinwatcher and requesting validation of Coinwatcher's listings from the SCF community.

These entries together with the general tone of your entries being very similar to Coinwatcher, leads me to believe that you are one and the same!

I am not "coinwatcher",I only saw his Large Queen posting and when I looked at the ebay link I saw his other listings and became interested in the Scott 189. Why would that be a such a coincidence?

I am happy to be able to post in this thread because "Coinwatcher" (Richard G.) asked me to examine this item and tell him if I thought it has a double transfer. I pointed out to him that I do this for a living and normally get paid for such evaluations, but since there was a discussion here on this subject, I would do so for him gratis.

"Bottom line" is that it is NOT a double transfer, for exactly the same reasons Ken Srail explained in the original thread. The extraneous lines/does seen on the stamp in various places seems too random for a DT which would have any doubling occur generally immediately adjacent to the original lettering/design. I also added that it is still an interesting item and I thought it might be worth $25/50. range. To his credit, he DID change the Title of his ebay listing and finally DID sell the item for $75.00 and I presume that the buyer had the opportunity to see the changed title BEFORE he bid(?).

So that's the whole story of that item.......
