Hi guys...Am I wasting my time trying to create a stamp page for my Province stamps...I thought it would be nice to show them in something more professional then keeping them in books hidden in the corner..I could not find any programs on Google to use, so I created my own...Was going to do it for every Province..I inserted my Newfoundland Scott #1 stamp as a trial..What do you guys think..??

It's looks outstanding and very professional. Much better than having them hiden away. I think you will be very proud of these pages when you are finshed. |

Yes. Must there not be scores of album pages available? The Canadian coat of arms (1921) would be not be appropriate for pre-confederation colonies. |

not to sound picky but wouldn't it fit your theme a little better if you use the Newfoundland Coat of Arms instead of the Canadian one? |

This is a worthwhile endeavour, wert, keep at it. I agree on using the arms of the provinces, though. Maybe add a little historical information for the stamps, but make it short and succinct. Keep the pages simple and unadorned as you have this one. Embelishments only detract from the stamps. Pages like yours focus the eye on the stamps. Nice work.

PS. I am at a total loss as to why Stanley Gibbons do not issue pages in their Canada and Australia albums for Canadian Provinces and Australian States. TC. |

Shouldn't it be: "British North America"? Newfoundland was a British colony, independent of Canada until 1949 when it became a province.

Robert, all nonsense aside, I really like the page. And I hope you keep posting all your NA British Colonies as you do them!

Well, I'll be darned! Anyway, Wert's question is unanswerable for all but himself, of course. As I said, there are plenty of BNA albums to choose from. However, I agree that there is something very satisfying in creating one's own album pages. How one orders the stamps on the page and what information to include are highly personal. The collection becomes unique. (but not if Wert emails away copies to everyone!) |
