Hi guys...I was looking at my Scott # 14 stamp..I looked in Unitrade and noticed there is a variety called "Q Flaw"...It is a weakness in the circular oval and the cross hatching below the "O" of "ONE"...Is this what I think it is..Thanks.
Robert

BELOW IS THE CORNER SHOWING STRONG OVAL FRAME AND CROSS HATCHING OF THE DESIGN SHOWN BY YELLOW ARROWS.

BELOW IS THE LL CORNER WHERE "Q FLAW" IS..POINTED OUT BY BLUE ARROWS.

One problem Wert, the stamp is missing the line at the bottom of the "O" that makes it look like a "Q".

Hi Wert,

This Scott 14 is one that I have identified as the 'Q' flaw. Although it does not yet have a certification.

wert - here's three 14iv stamp close ups, and all are slightly different from each other.

stamporator's is different from these three.

The darkest one 14iv(3) is for sale in the Saskatoon Stamp Centre catalogue #590, which I received today. The price is Canadian $1,495.00 or USA $1,390.35.

Wert,
below is position 38 of the Q flaw from my collection. Notice the line under the O of one cent.

Means nothing more than a guess because it is software code estimating at what is underneath the cancel based upon the surrounding pixels. Since this will always be true, I really do not understand the value of 'removing cancels'.

Wert, using this method will never give you any definitive answers. In fact all things being equal it is just as likely to mislead you as it is to inform you.
