Hi guys

Take a look at this North Alantic Air Service" first flight letter sent 75 years ago from Royal Dalton Company to Canada..One stamp is Scott # 263 (1939) and the other stamp is Scott # 172 (1912)..Funny someone had a 102 year old stamp in their drawer and put it on this envelope beside the newer stamp.

That is what is called a "philatelic cover." Wasn't funny at all - it was intentional.

Yes, a philatelic cover. However, I challenge the statement

At the time, the older stamp was only 27 years old. I'm sure several issues were used for extended periods of time, like this one.

Actually the 1/- George V stamp on the cover (with the filled-in background behind the King's head) was first released on 24 Feb 1936.

Wert and all.

I believe this is a 'clipper' mail cover because of the rate set at 1/- 3 Pence. This was the standard rate at the time for mail going on board a clipper plane to cross the Atlantic.

Hope this helps?
