It doesn't look carmine but it could be just a color change and not the rose.

Looking at a Finnish specialized catalog, the possible (heavily simplified) list of colors for perf 12˝ stamps are:

a) bright carmine (senate printing of 1881)
b) dull carmine (senate printing of 1881)
c) aniline red (charta sigillata printing of 1882)
d) strong aniline red (charta sigillata printing of 1882)
e) red (charta sigillata printing of late 1883)
f) orange red (charta sigillata printing of late 1884)
g) light aniline red (charta sigillata printing of late 1884)

Possible color is usually determined by postmark (location + year of usage; there are records what print runs were delivered where and when) as well as other characteristics.... Not an expert by these (and I don't have the delivery records right here right now), but I'd say what you have got here is some aniline red specimen.

Thank you! I did a research about aniline ink. It was discuss previously on this forum. Spend over an hour and it was very interesting. I saw pics of stamps that the ink show in the back the stamp like this Finland stamp show also when soaked (see scan). There is no mention in the Scott Standard Cat. of aniline colours but I think that 'aniline red' is consider as a rose shade and not carmine. Daniel

@Daniel... Aniline red is definitely neither rose or carmine. It is a color with characteristics of it's own.... Carmine is somewhat deep red with 'a touch of 'darker tones', rose is much softer and lighter type of red, and aniline is much more vibrant (thinking a punk rocker with pinkish hair).

This is just one of countless situations where Scott listings are totally and utterly misleading and useless.

Thanks
I sold my Finland collection so this stamp is not a keeper for me. I wanted to sell it on forum. I need a value to do it. Otherwise I will keep it with the mention aniline colour. Have a good weekend!

Real world retail price for 25p Charta sigillata stamps without exactly specified (unusual) color or superb SOTN cancel is 3-6€ if buying from dealer, or about half of that if buying from some collector.
