Wishful thinking, but does anyone think this might be ribbed paper, making this stamp 2a? Thank you!

Hold up to a oblique light. Do you see horizontal or vertical lines like the scan I inserted or just rough paper?

Thank you, Redwoodrandy. I read all the material you provided and it was very informative. Of course, being a novice, I'm still stumped. I cannot capture with the camera what I see when tilting the stamp in just the right light. There appear to be "ribs" that run vertically when tilted jus so. I suspect I will have to send the stamp out for expertizing as we have limited resources here in Anchorage. Thanks, again.
