Never heard of this before. Do they serve any purpose?

This kind of rubber band is used to secure two or more circuit books by some stamp clubs.

Ringo,

I recently received a KGVI Stanley Gibbons album in the mail. It was bound with one of those rubber bands. It kept the binder shut nice and tight and did not bend the outside of the album at all. I had no idea they were so expensive, and remember; rubber bands do have a shelf life.

Store them in refrigerator. They can be found at lower prices (i.e. Uline https://www.uline.com/Product/Detai...ands-7-x-5-8 ) if you search around.

So really they're for use in transportation? People don't actually keep albums banded up in their collection?

All rubber degrades over time. Look at old rubber bands you've put around a group of letters, etc. The rubber dries out and the rubber band disintegrates. No one would seriously consider using rubber bands to hold albums together -- for long. For shipping, yes. I have no idea what this guy thinks he's doing. Who sells rubber bands online like this? It's truly strange. If you need rubber bands, drop by your local office supply store.

Wow; $1.225 for each rubber band; unbelievable. The seller is making a small profit.
