So I know it may be very unlikely this is a 595 but as I was sorting out these 2 cent stamps I noticed this one was a tad bigger in width than the others. Perf 11 all the way around. Is it possible for a stamp to be a tad bigger than the others and not be a 595? Thoughts on this one?

Again this one was a tad bigger as well but less so than the 2 cent above. Probably just an error in my measurement here. 594. I just noticed in my measurement picture the ruler is pushed a tad too far too the left... I will still post this though!

hello,

look at the back of the stamps, and if there are ink setoff spots, it's flat, not rotary.

Flat plate booklet singles can run a tad wider than sheet stamps. I think that is what you have here.

Hi, agree, the reverse side can in most cases tell you alot about your stamp in question.

Here's a genuine 595... for your stamp to be one, it must be perf 11
on all 4 sides, and *precise* frame measurements of 19.75mm in width
by 22.25mm in height.

Ahh okay so there is ink on the back, it is a booklet flat plate. So rotary stamps never have ink on the back?

Use a known flat plate, rotary press sheet stamp or rotary coil stamp to compare width or height of the design. A ruler using the information provided in the Scott catalog will not provide reliable or accurate results.
