Assuming that the hinge remnant is not concealing a thin, the one on the right.

I picked those two stamps, because they both have faults. What I was really trying to find out was 1) which faults are deal breakers for people when evaluating stamps and 2) what is more important - a higher graded (I would call the one on the left VF+) but ugly stamp or a lower graded (I would call the one on the right F-VF) but prettier stamp. It seems that most of those who responded so far prefer to have the stamp with more eye appeal over the one that is technically a "better" stamp judging by grade alone. If I had to choose between these two, I would pick the one on the right, but frankly, I wouldn't choose either for my collection. I would look for an example that had the centering of the left with the eye appeal of the one on the right and preferably with an interesting cancel that doesn't obscure too much of the face. If I found that stamp, I could tolerate minor flaws such as a short perf, but a tear or a pin hole would be a deal breaker for me. What do you think?

If the postal marking is a type that I collect, I can tolerate small flaws. And, price is always an important factor.
