This is a real collector's set. Each stamp is available with two perforations and potentially three types of gum - white, pink and blue - although it is not known whether all combinations of perf and gum exist.

Frank.

Thanks Frank, the more information posted the better. I have a number of mint (including a set of 2 x rows (marginal)), I haven't got to the point of checking what gums on each of these semi-sheets but when I was scanning the front the other day I noticed different gums. So I have a set of 2 x rows with the three gum types included (From memory 2 pink, 1 blue, 3 white). I'll post the varieties of gum when I get them into the scanner.

1979 Fishing in Australia 50c swordfish (SG726)

"white dot in sky top right" (from https://www.acsvid.com/1979)

The following I have no idea if it is listed but I noticed this on a block of 4. Lack of (violet) in vertical strip on mountain at rear OR blue vertical strip on mountain at rear. Block of 4 followed by close up of (violet) missing and normal stamp.

1972 Australian Primary Industries 24c Toronto Splint

What's going on here with this block of 4? Did the blue line break and squirt under pressure? It's all over the stamps but easiest to see where it's meant to be white. Maybe some forensic work would show the direction from whence it came. The following two enlargements are from the top then lower two stamps.

Along with the previous post for the 1979 50c Fishing in Australia (violet missing) I have another I would appreciate any information on.

1963 2'3 Opening of the Trans-Pacific Cable (SG362).

My example has a small red oval below and left of the base of the "B" in "CABLE".

I have a website for Australian varieties http://acsvid.com. There's only about 250 shown at the moment, but I have thousands to scan and add over time.

BTW, I think Juzwins sell quality items, but their pricing is steep

Hi jubilee, I recently registered at your site and if you note above (1979 Fishing in Australia 50c swordfish) I decided it was right to refer to your site if this is where my reference is from. I appreciate the time and effort you put into this site (http://acsvid.com).

ps. Do you have any information to offer on the red oval on my 1963 Trans-Pacific Cable? Or any of the other 'unknowns' I have posted in this thread?

1980 Aircraft 22c Wackett (SG761) "red spot" on wing (https://www.acsvid.com/1980).

Just to let everyone know, in some instances I have one example of a stamp and in other instances I have hundreds. This has nothing to do with your chance of finding a flawed/listed stamp.

Here's one of my favourites, 1974 9c on 8c Opal Gemstone SG579 with misplaced surcharge (BW646c). Also has a doctor blade flaw

I have to say, reading about certain varieties is one thing, 'seeing' it for yourself is very different. Once you've seen it, it is so obvious. But if you haven't I hope all the contributions to this post help (for you to see for yourself).

Very nice, I like it when the flaw is easy to pick (I hate these retouch things). Very nice clean example.

Here's a funny thing, I have at least eleven of that particular miniature sheet and 10 have the notch and one doesn't. So to me the non-notch is the rarity.

I say 11 as I believe I have a few more somewhere, my stamps are in such a mess - 40+ years since I paid attention (this includes time where I hadn't quite let go and still collected, they just got put in storage immediately.

If anyone is interested in a copy for themselves please pm me.

I also was lucky enough to have a mother who was in charge of the area involved with incoming mail - lots of torn in half stamps but thousands that weren't. As an example (and I really appreciate postmarks I can read).
