as some may remember, I collect and plate danish bi colored stamps.
one of the most intricately engraved classic stamps of the world, and also one of the most thoroughly described stamps.
Lasse Nielsen, G.A Hagemann and Børge Schäffer (and others) dedicated their lives to this work, and even now there's so much more to be discovered, and most have no doubt - we'll never complete this area.
Our neighbors (Sweden) used the Ringtype around the same periode of time which is also an interesting stamp.
strangely enough, the swedish collectors never took to this kind of work, and were always much more focused on the ink that covered the actual stamp.
so i've started working with the ringtype (still in the hoarding process) my goal is to determine some basic tell tales, like "matrice types" and perforation types. unfortunately, the swedish printing people didn't keep as detailed records as we did in Denmark.
Also our postal museum has preserved numerous full stamp sheets and these are invaluable to our work, and have high res scanned those for the public. The swedish counterpart is, unfortunately, reluctant to do the same, so in may i'll go there personally and hope to gain permission to at least take pictures.
so that is why I was interested in seeing the ringtypes.

Rod and René, thanks for the kudos. Needless to say, you're pages are smashing as always, Rod Sorsh, you're aiming high I'm puzzled as well that there seems to have been much more detailed study ongoing on the Danish bicolours and the Norwegian Posthorns than on the Swedish counterparts. Wishing you best of luck in studying the ring type. If helpful for your work, you'll see some of my ring types here, unfortunately the scans don't have the resolution you might want. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AjirnRkSd4qwkFZ953FVX_1aspx- |

Steiner's Sweden pages provide only for single copies of the booklet stamps. Usual custom in Europe is to collect them in pairs. I have my Sweden in Lighthouse albums so sometimes find it challenging to get those pairs, I usually have to buy from specialist dealers or from Europe. Most show dealers do not cater to this. |

Rod, Jon -- very nice pages! Jon, special thanks for posting your custom made album page of the early issues.
Sorsh, if you need more examples of ring-types without actually having to buy the stamps, I'd be more than happy to provide scans if you can do without the actual stamp. I've gotten in a habit of scanning the entire album page or stocksheet as I acquire them. I've been working hard on my Sweden for the past 2 years, so I can make/email scans to you.
Stamps1962, I know what you speak of. I noticed that when I began acquiring Sweden collections housed in European-made albums. I found it easier/cheaper to put together one modern collection from purchasing 2 collections through auction, rather than trying to fill in individual spaces through dealer purchases. Fortunately, I try to limit myself to pre-2000 issues. |

@ Blaamand, you're right, those scans aren't helpful i'm afraid, you're using them for insurance purpose?
@KHJ, thanks, if you have scans of pairs or more, those will be very helpful, I also keep pictures from auctionhouses when they offer better blocks or strips. This project is 2nd priority so I won't spend that much on it for now.
it's very easy to get hold of large accumulations cheap since almost all collectors of swedish stamps only focus on cancels. the bulks I get will have poor cancels but that does not matter in this project. |

@khj - @sorsh - yepp you are right, those rough scans are kept for reference and insurance purposes only, not for detailed study. |

hi Rod..
those PKXP cancels are railway cancels, and they're abundant.
if you notice the stamps are from the same date, and likely from the same letter. Both stamps are centerered similar. |
