Sorsh - thanks for showing all those different and interesting postmarks. I particularly like the nice cancelled abroad postmarks, very neat. Probably connected with maritime mail, at least the UK barred numeral. Cannot see the full number, however most likely it's '383' for Hull, which were a busy harbour for fishermen and seamen back in the days. So most probably the stamp was used by someone that arrived in Hull onboard a Swedish boat. You probably know this already, but others might not. Envy!!

Rod, you never stop amusing me with all the out-ot-the-ordinary stuff. Keep it coming

@Blaamand, you might find this norwegian one interesting then
i apologize for taking the subject hostage to show something not in thread with the orginal post

add a danish one with 946 - I do not know the name of the town

Just a beautiful example of the danish -> norway mail system.

and now back to Sweden. Naturally there have been quite alot of post passing the narrow strait between Sweden and Denmark.
as earlier mentioned, a letter posted on the docks or aboard a ship would typically be cancelled with the recieving country's postmarks.

these "strips" didn't get a cancel until reaching the destination train.
PKPX No 2. Upp: No. 2 refers to lines to and from Malmö, i'm assuming the Upp means it's going from Malmö and Upp"wards" maybe to Falköbing or Nässjo which both are quite a bit north of Malmö
there is listed an PKXP No 2. Ned Ned means down, so I may be incorrect but it sounds logical to me.

many letters would aside from a postmark on the stamps have this line cancellation stating where they originated from.
Text reads Frän Danmark meaning, From Denmark

the more a read about this, the more fascinating I find this, maybe I should start collecting the railway stuff :)

Sc#58 1891 King Oscar ll 10o Postmark ?

Recall another similar mark somewhere recently, where the poster thought it was German Cross?

A known mark? Just a Scribble?
Thanks.

@Sorsh - that selection of Scandinavian used abroad is truly amazing!!! Yours? Thanks for showing them anyway.

Rod - I've seen that 'inverted plus' cancel before, can't remember exactly, but German sounds plausible. Neat! Whenever I get around to pick up my Sweden collection again I will pull a few dups to fill some of your holes, but don't hold your breath....

Thanks Jon,
I'll keep it B.o.b. then, in the postmarks, for future ID.

Thanks Rene,
another lot of "Flotsam and Jetsam" coming your way.

Stamps collecting on the cheap,
Apart from the Officials, none of the Sweden were purchased from a special collection, all are randoms from "Worldwide collection in China Stockbook $5" lots.

Hence all the gaps.
