Here is a little postal history on a town in British Columbia called
MerrittThe post card below has a Scott 89 with a cancel of Merritt, B.C. September 26, 1907 below...

Below is an old map of Merritt just South/West of Kamloops B.C.

Below is from "
Canada Post Offices 1755-1895" by Frank W. Campbell..Interestingly. this book does not show Merritt B.C., but only Merritt Ontario as seen below.

Once known as Forksdale, the community adopted its current name in 1906 in honour of mining engineer and railway promoter William Hamilton Merritt...Born in Hamilton, Ontario 1867..
Postmaster was George B. Armstrong who was appointed to postmaster August 15.1907...In 1907, George B. Armstrong built Armstrong Department Store. It also served as the post office...Below is pictures of George B. Armstrong as a younger man and when he got older as shown below.

The post card above was mailed
40 days after it became a post office. (possible ERD)
Below is the actual Armstrong store the post office began it's journey...

The only trouble I have determining how rare or not rare this cancel is, I could not find the monetary usage of this post office..Any help would be appreciated.
