This is another example of how careless Canada Post deals with its long term customers (and philatelist) Today I received an order and the sender took great care to use nicest stamps on the package. here is how it was received at my door, thanks to a zealous delivery person... What is more interesting is that I was home, and responded personnally to the doorbell. I can't see no reason to destroy the cover with the stickers...When asked, the delivery person told me that she assumed no body would be home so for expediency, she prepared the delivery slip and placed the sticker on the envelope... This is increasingly frustrating for philatelist to get used contemporary stamps, and I though Canada Post should be more careful

Gilles, "Bentine" may lift that sticker if just applied, the mucilage generally remains on the sticker, not the cover. Worth a shot, I do it regularly on my covers.
You can re apply the sticker in a free position, if you need the cover's marque remaining, or place in talcum powder if removing stamps and labels.
Good Luck.

I'll echo Rod's comments, only to vary by saying I use Ronsonol. The faster you remove self-adhesive labels, the better your chances of success. If you leave them on for a few months, your chances of success are not good at all; the offset printing especially will bond with the adhesive. |

Even though they missed Mr. Spock's face, the placement of the sticker was still highly illogical. |

So just out of curiosity, with the layout of the envelope, where should have they put the label? |

By trying to put it on the bottom, you block off the instructions of "DO NOT BEND," an come very close to blocking the delivery address. In reality, that was the only reasonable place to put the label. Canada Post's mandate is to deliver the mail, not cater to the collectors. |

Well, you are correct. And Canada Post was wrong - they should have delivered it instead of sticking a Not Home tag on it. Peter |

If you carefully peel back one of the corners then lift the entire side up, you can often peel these Delivery Notice Card stickers without tearing or leaving residue. The trick is to very slowly pull from the lifted side gently toward you, causing the adhesive to peel off cleanly... worth a try in any case |
