I am about to start mountain stamps soon, alot of them. A portion is on paper and would like to remove them. I'm goi g to soak them and use a stamp drying book.
Question is what ones are good ad which ones should I run from?
I have had success with "Desert Magic" but they all wear out over time. I have also had very good success with paper towels, newspaper and a single sacrificial large book. 1. Start with a section of newspaper, 10 to 15 sheets 2. Add a large sheet of paper towel 3. Place stamps face down on paper towel 4. Add another paper towel 5. Repeat until all stamps are in the stack 6. Add a last stack of newspaper and place the large book on top 7. Wait 24 to 48 hours or until stamps are almost dry but some moisture remains 8. Remove all stamps from paper towels into a large pile 9. Subdivide stamps into appropriate sized groups and slot between pages of the large book at 40 or 50 page intervals 10. Wait a day or two and open book and 100's of flat, dry stamps will slide out
Reuse paper towels as they become better with time If a stamp sticks to paper towel, cut it out and try again For stamps with any amount of gum remaining I use the Desert Magic book
I agree with Willwood that Desert Magic drying books are good. They do wear out over time (pages get curled), but it takes a lot of use for them to reach that point. Recommended.
