Hello all, I am still trying to figure out if it's worth my time booking my dad's old Christmas seals. Attached are images I screen shot off of the internet witch are the oldest issues he has. The pictures are screen shot from the internet because it's not possible to get to them at this time. He has tons of them. Sheets, singles. I have printed the album pages from stamp smarter but have been struggling to decide. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks Brian

I really like these and recommend you keep on collecting. I have a few old ones too. |

I collect them as one of my philatelic endeavors. I don't actively pursue them but just add them to my collection as they come from old collections or accumulations that I acquire. |

Ok, thanks for the advice. I will start booking them when I get time. There was no cost to me so technically I'm not loosing anything by saving them. Brian |

Quote: Major rule of thumb for philately: Anything you like is worth collecting. So true. When I was a just starting out "kid collector" I would get the approvals mailings from H.E. Harris (I'm thinking mom cut me off pretty early on). One time there was a glassine of Christmas Seals that I bought, probable because they were cheap (like 10 cents maybe?), but also pretty cool, and I still have them. I don't "collect" them and would never purchase any but if some come my way in a stamp lot, which has happened, I'll mount them. There are people that like them and someday when my collection is dispersed I hope they find a good home. Thank you Don for the album pages. |

I like them when they are tied on cover. I always search the Christmas and New Year's postcards at shows and antique stores to find them. |

Battlestamps, not often tied to cover but used on back, but have seen a few next to postage which have been hit by hammer. Don't know if many made it through when used instead of postage. |

Hi ikeyPikey
Thanks for posting the link for John Denune. Somehow I deleted the link to the web page.
I have bought from him in the past. Really nice guy.

. Jerry: It might run in the CS&CSS family; Seals Editor David Teisler is also congenial & collegial.
Continuing my why-buy-stamps-when-you-can-buy-stamp-club-memberships program, I downloaded the CS&CSS membership application last night.
Cheers,

As others have said, if you like it, collect it. You never know when "little pieces of paper", tucked neatly in an album or stock book, are going to be a handy reference.

You might want to look closely through the collection. I found these in an auction lot I won: https://goscf.com/t/64372Sold the 7 Christmas Seals for over $1000. So, you never know what you might find. |
