Just for fun, which of the two stamps would you select for 211b, and why?

Why?

Well why not, they are very rare postally used I believe although I've heard that some folks refer to the shading differences between the oval lines and Mr. Washington, those lines fading the lower you go towards his chest. I am trying to start a conversation on that:

I see some differences but is it fact, or fiction?

The starting point is the color. 211B is a different color.

And the short, curt answer, is "fiction".

Another fact I learned the long way around because I asked the question incorrectly. Shame on me!

Thank you, as always, for facts, as not all pictures I see out there represent the 211b as well as yours.

Bravo!!

Lines of engraving in the vignette background at the bottom of the oval are complete on Scott 211B unlike the blurred and missing lines in the detailed images above. Also, the color is distinctive. "The special printing was a special trial printing by a new steam-powered American Bank Note Company press." See the complete note on page 35 of the 2919 Scott Specialized Catalog of United States Stamps and Covers.

Ok, so not fiction, there is a difference between the two, but, the color needs to be right!!!

Now that is good info!! Thank you for the clarification!
