So I've been going through some approval books from about 1900-1910 that have some different cat #'s. There's a 1925 scott catalogue online with these numbers. for example there's this:
#33 A8 3c dull red type I (Washington) 3.00 a. 3c claret, type I 5.00 b. 3c orange brown, type I 15.00 c. Vertical half used as lc
I'm curious if this correlates to 11?
Most numbers have remained the same but there are plenty of differences as well.
Yes, what is now #11 was #33 before the catalog renumbering. In the old numbering the postmaster provisionals were numbers 1 to 27 The 1847 issue were #28 and 29 The 1875 reprints of the 1847s (now number 3 and 4) were 29D and 29E The 1 cent 1851s were numbers 30 to 32 The 3 cent 1851s were number 33 The 5 cent 1856 was number 34 The 10 cent 1855s were number 35 The 12 cent 1856 was number 36
