Hello everybody,
I recently aquired I bunch of stamps I started with one box and I have no idea what I'm looking at. I've been trying to do some research but it quickly becomes over welming and what has value and what doesn't. I tried using ebay and the prices vary so much.
I found so 3 cent George Washington stamps I believe they are probably not worth anything. I found a stamp from Germany that I think may be worth something but not sure. Thanks in advanced for any help.

Hello. The German stamp is a common one issued during the inflation period of the 1920s.

Do you have any stamp albums or stock books in the boxes? If you do, then perhaps scan one or more pages of them for us to see.

If the stamps are just randomly hinged to pages, or loose in envelopes, then this is more of an accumulation than a collection.

This will give us a better opportunity to provide guidance for you. What you have shown on this single page are common stamps (it would be good to see a better scan of the 3c stamp on piece in the upper right corner to provide better input on that one).

That's what I was thinking its all the old Stamps are in bags, tins or box's, the only thing in binders are newer stamps from the 1970's and 80's.
I will post more pics later today. I was a whole pickup load of stamps. I just want to make sure before I get rid of them.
Thankyou.

Can you show also the last stamp on the third row? If it is really a coil stamp (no much value on that either), then it might mean there are unchecked stamps with the same design mixed together. In that case there may be more valuable variants in the mix, but it is fairly hard work to find them from the mix.

Edit: my comment applies to the first picture with lots of 3c Washingtons.

Very nice start of a lifelong hobby. I would start by trying to sort all of the stamps by country. You might try www.stampworld.com for some more info

Where to start?

This depends on where you want to end.

For us to provide meaningful guidance and advice, we need to have some idea where you want to go with this material. In other words where are you along the scale of keeping versus selling ....
Do you intend to keep it all?
Do you intend to keep and develop select portions?
Do you intend to sell it all?

So far, your images show an "accumulation" by a previous owner rather than a "collection", which typically would show more organization.

Philately can be a rewarding and educational hobby. It can also be frustrating if it becomes just a search for treasure.
