Could someone enlighten me please about the vertical line between the stamps?

Some stamp printing plates had vertical as well as horizontal line on the plates. These were used on some issue as a guide as to where the printed sheet would be cut into panes (post office sheets) to be sold over the postal counters. Other time it was just marking to show the mid-lines of the post office panes being sold.
