The Prince of Primitives suggested
"It looks like a stamped paper from Tonk"
back in 2008, but I have not been able to
learn anything further.

As you're growing snaky about it, the right hand thingy translates as 'Seal of the Appeal Court of the State of Tonk'. You'll have to go to K&M to sort out the left-hand one, though

Of course not, Rodney. I don't know what came over me. Grumpy, perhaps, but never snaky.

Some good news for lovers of Indian Telegraphs: Gibbons now lists these in the 2013 Part 1, in unused wholes, used halves and used wholes. The bad news is that most used halves aren't rated very highly. The Victorian 8 Anna and 1 Rupee used halves I showed earlier are now SG T45 and T46, and priced at £1 each.

I'll be happy to identify and price small numbers of these for members.

About time,
someone should grab SG by the scruff and give a good shake.
Telegraphs are the same as postage stamps.
They prepay a service,
the service is generally a message,
the only diffrence is they do not accompany the missive.

Rodney, I'm hanging onto my 2012 Part 1, and my 1937, 1941, 1955, 1976, 1984, 1998, 2000 and 2002-011 Part 1s as well. I like to be able to update my spreadsheets as I add new items to them.

Besides, it would cost the Gross State Product of Tasmania to send the 2012 across to you.

For the record, because my post looked like
I was insinuating free :(
I was happy to pay for it.
Explanation fine, I understand, but not the postage?
I imagine part 1 to be relatively small.
About half size of A4?
or how am I mistaken?

Rod, I didn't for a moment suspect you of insinuating. However, the 2013 Part 1 is a generous A4 size, and weighs in at not much less than a kilo I'd guess. Gibbons will keep on adding in extraneous stuff like Telegraph stamps, you see.

It will be bigger again next year I hope. I've sent the Editor four Barwani items for inclusion.

I see, I was envisaging the "booklet" India specialised format.

I know you are sensitive about Barwani,
so I'll resist the urge to nettle you. :)

Corection... to previous tranlation..please
On left is the stamp of Tonk court fee... On right is the Seal of Court of appeal dated 1881 (Riyasat Tonk) in English,Urdu and devnagri.
Second piece ......(amount)We(I) have to pay, we(I) will pay from our earning. And Claiment Muhammad Yaqoob ul mulk wrote and said amount what was paid in that Mehr(Divorce Payment)is Two rupees short. Those Two rupees Short Mehr payment will be 14 rupees with original amount and Interest and Penalty altoghether Rupees 14.
rest of other is cut off.
Having written in sakta Urdu written without glasses I had some trouble so made mistakes in previous one.

This is the court document either hearing notation or Judgement..unfortunately this is in pieces. (Mehr is the amount to be paid to lady if divorced agreed upon at the time Marraige during Nikah in presence of Kazi.. as Muslim Marraiges are contract Marraige per se )
