Would anyone know dealers that would carry high quality Wasington/Franklins, nicely centered unused no faults? Alternatively would any forum members have such stock for sale in their ebay stores or otherwise? Thanks

I've never bought from them (I don't collect US) but I know Gary Posner, Inc. sells that type of material. They've got a pretty good inventory on their website, with everything pictured, etc. http://www.garyposnerinc.com/ |

Oracle of Delphi, Sorry for my question, but in order to help you I need one more bit of information.
You said "unused", are you really looking for Mint Never Hinged instead of unused?
Cheers

Preferably MNH, which would be in my price range for the bulk of the issues, but for the higher values or varieties where that condition starts running into the multiple hundreds or more, I would consider hinged. |

In addition to dealers, would anyone have a recommendation on literature, articles, books, etc. focusing on the Washington/Franklin issues?
Thanks again. |

Paul Schmid, The Expert's Book. Available on a CD on ebay from Paul Schmid (selling under the id pspogo2012) or from Weiss Expertizing Service, among other places is The Bible of W-F. |

Well, the Schmid book is one of the bibles....also suggest Martin Armstrong's book, out of print, but is findable on ebay and various websites of dealers in philatelic literature. Hope this is helpful, Ray |

Just ordered up the Schmid book. Will also look up the Armstrong book since I would really like to become a lot more knowledgable in this area. Thanks to all for your help. |

How to Detect Damaged, Altered and Repaired Stamps also by Paul Schmidt. An excellent book, especially for teaching which rarities can be produced from what common stamps in the W/F series. |

Thanks for the note on the "How to Detect Damaged, Altered and Repaired Stamps" book. I happen to have purchased that a while back, and it's a book which I have found very interesting and valuable not only for the W/F series but for stamps in general. I am trying to continue my education with other sources before I start spending any serious money on these stamps. |

Oracle, In addition to the three terrific books indicated above, I would strongly recommend the "Washington Series" pamphlet issued by the APS. Written by Alfred Diamond and illustrated by W.V. Kenworthy, this handbook, SPA #4, was issued back in 1960 for $2.00! I found my copy in ebay or Amazon about 6 months ago. It is the cheapest of my Washington Franklin research materials, and also the best! Jack Kelley |

Jack, Thanks for the heads up. Looks like there a couple of booklets on Amazon now for about 10 bucks. |
