I agree with sinclair2010. The stamp everyone is seeing "ribbing" on is a soft paper Scott 185 (a crudely reperforated one at that). You could find something similar on all values of the Scott 182-191 set (and American Bank Note Company stamps which follow).

In fact, you can also see the same phenomenon on the Scott 206 which the OP first shared. It's a common look for ABNCo stamps... it's not "ribbing" though, at least not in the standard way philatelists use that term.

the special printings had "no gum" from the beginning on (=NGAI, no gum as issued).

Maybe I have Scott 204 without glue ......
if you look at the horizontal lines on the cover,
if there is glue, they would not have that quality ......?

I have not read about lines being any indication for a special printing.

The thing is that for the American Bank Note special printings they are just too similar to the normal issue. I think the differences are not, in opposite to the other special printings, a proof-like impression, very white paper and so on.

you would need:
unused stamp with no gum
color and paper comparison to certified ones at the PF
proof of provenance of the stamp (would be the best)
