Hey artlaunier! To bad about the tears, but even so they are nice. You might let Marty take a look at the pen cancel, it is a nice one. Also I just listed this on my ebay site last Saturday it is one of the nicest 73's that I have seen in a long time, but it is a no gummer so the price is down. Sc#73 Mint no gum Sc#133 Mint full og Sc#133a mint ngai this one is nicer than the last one I posted |

That is a really neat cancel on the third blackjack. I can see why you wanted it. Since it is the cancel that makes the stamp, I would not think centering would be too much of an issue. |

I just love that shield cancel on the the 3rd "Black Jack" amazing! Sorry to hear about those tears but that's the chance you take with the Internet. Awesome anyway though. |

I really like the blackjack with the pen cancel. Don't know why but I love pen cancels, lets you know a real person made the mark all those years ago. sigh. |

I always liked "Black Jacks" and would love to collect them if I could just drag myself away from my 1847 issue obsession! Nice stamp pictures! |

Just my 2nd post-- but I saw this topic and couldn't resist showing off my "wide" Black Jack. I've never seen another like this one-- Haven't figured out how to put a signature on my messages yet-- but thought I'd send this one anyways! Thanks, Ray |

Ray, welcome to SCF. Unusually wide margins very unusual for this issue. |

I don't have my books with me (in Tulsa again). But, If I remember correctly, doesn't one of the later BJ have wide margins between stamps? I don't recall a grill. Yea, I'm getting old and the memory isn't as good as it once was.

Well, I've joined your club. I managed to snag what I'm sure is a #73 off ebay yesterday, and for a good price. He looks a little dirty, but I've been learning not to trust ebay scans. I can't wait 'til he arrives, and I can introduce him to my Confederate 'RedJack' |

I'm not certain exactly what this is... just that it fits the Black Jack theme... some help would be appreciated. |

Barb, If the stamp has no grill then it is Scott 73; however, the area in the box makes be think the stamp might have a feint grill and if so, depending on the type, it could be either Scott 84, 85B, 87 or 93. Can you provide a scan of the back? Steve |
